Student Assistance Program

WHAT IS SAP?

The Towanda Area School District’s Student Assistance Program is composed of teachers, administrators, school staff members, and counselors who have received formal training through a state-endorsed program. Other team members include liaisons from community drug and alcohol and mental health agencies. Prevention efforts are focused on helping students overcome barriers to learning, including alcohol, tobacco, and mental health issues. Student academic achievement is enhanced through collaborative prevention, intervention, and postvention services. The SAP Team will evaluate students who are referred by any source, including teachers, guidance counselors, school staff, administrators, parents, or other students.
